APEC First Senior Official’s Meeting 2017 Endorsed the Work Plan of GSCNET

2017 APEC First Senior Official’s Meeting (SOM1) was held in Nha Trang, Viet Nam during 18th February-3rd March, 2017. 56 meetings, workshops and dialogues was held during SOM1.

 

Theme of APEC 2017 is Creating New Dynamism, Fostering A Shared Future. The principle for China to participate in the work of APEC is to further advance China’s achievements in previous years combined with the theme of this year, which includes the construction of GSCNET. In the meeting, MEP representatives introduced Work Plan on APEC Cooperation on Green Supply Chain in 2017, which was endorsed during SOM1. Tianjin Pilot Center updated working progress and circulated the Development Report of APEC Cooperation Network 2017.

 

The updates was adopted into the CTI Chair’s Report and endorsed by SOM1: CTI agreed on the 2017 Work Plan on APEC Cooperation on Green Supply Chain and noted the call from China for economies to nominate pilot centers to join the network. CTI also received updates on preparations for the self-funded annual conference and capacity building workshop for 2017 and looked forward to the outcomes.

 

Work Plan on APEC Cooperation on Green Supply Chain in 2017 mainly includes: To advance expert group operation; Facilitate nomination and participation of more GSCNET members; coordinate capacity building activity; continue to advance supportive work under APEC fora, etc.

 

According to the APEC secretariat, over 1700 representatives attended the meeting including representatives from 21 economies, and those from the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), as well as representatives from international and regional organizations and enterprises.

 

 

Topics of this meeting covers open trade and investment, facilitation of business operation, climate change, human resources development, education, fishing, e-trading and service, etc. APEC economies also discussed priorities for the four committees of trade-investment, economic, technology, budget management as well as orientations for APEC 2017 activities.
